Membership

Membership of the Redlands Bonsai Society Inc. is only $20.00 per year for singles or $30.00 per year for families. There is meeting attendance fee of $2.

As a Member you will receive the monthly Redlands Bonsai Society's newsletter and access to the society's comprehensive reference library of books, magazines, CDs and DVDs.

The Redlands Bonsai Society’s mission is ‘to bring together enthusiasts and practitioners of bonsai to share, enjoy, learn and celebrate the ancient art of bonsai as well as enjoy the social interaction and friendship that comes with it’.

Some people say the practice of bonsai is 75% horticulture. It is certainly a specialisation built on an understanding of and experience in growing plants. While the society does engage in bonsai training, that training assumes a level of proficiency in successfully growing and tending for plants. 

If you are interested to learn bonsai and do not have both the understanding and experience at that basic horticultural level, we would encourage you first to get gardening, start growing plants in pots, join a local gardening club, etc. Only then when you have some proficiency in the basics, consider coming back to begin the bonsai journey.
